October is a busy month for book fairs all around the world. Both locally and further abroad, the coming month is sure to provide many opportunities for authors, publishers and booklovers alike to share ideas, network and learn. Whether you are lucky enough to hop on a plane or will be checking out the events in your own backyard, read on for all the details and let us know which event you are looking forward to attending.

Budapest International Book Festival

The Budapest International Book Festival, now being held for the 27th time, is a noted event of the international book world, being the region’s defining professional and cultural forum. The festival awaits its visitors at the Millenáris in an easily accessible, central location, with even more modern and beautiful exhibition spaces. The Budapest International Book Festival traditionally hosts the world’s most prestigious writers and poets, and this year will be no different.

Liber International Book Fair

This year, Liber celebrates 40 years as one of the leading professional events for the book industry. They are back with energy to promote the power of the national book sector. They bring together the latest news and trends in the different fields of books, again serving as a cultural and business connection.

ROSA Con

The organizers have a diverse and informative line up again this year, with presentations on writing protector romance, crushing it with Kindle, the dark side of publishing, setting up your author website with Wix, writing multicultural, the importance of keeping a series bible and more, including some interviews and panels. By popular demand, Shane Starrett, of the men’s panel last year, will be participating in a panel discussion along with Golden Angel and, South African living abroad, Linzi Basset. There’s plenty more good stuff coming your way.

Cape Flats Book Festival

This community-driven event allows attendees to meet authors, illustrators, publishers, and NGO’s, attend a workshop, buy books and lots more. It promises to be fun for children and adults.

Frankfurt Book Fair

You can look forward to the world’s largest book fair in Frankfurt, where a diverse programme for trade and private audiences awaits you, with many cultural events on site, accessed digitally and throughout the city. Frankfurter Buchmesse 2022 will be centred around the topic of translation in all its facets: as the only way for words to find their way out into the world, as the basis for the trade in literary rights, and for building understanding between cultures amid diversity.

Helsinki Book Fair

Meet the most interesting writers, listen to topical discussions, buy books at special fair prices, and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere! The fair has over 1,000 performers from Finland and abroad.

Krakow International Book Fair

The International Book Fair in Kraków® is an annual event dedicated to the publishing and bookselling industry, organized since 1997.  Aimed at promoting readership, the event is open to the public. Its exhibitors include Polish and international publishers, book wholesalers, bookstores, cultural institutions, associations active in the Polish book market, electronic media distributors, printing houses, and paper manufacturers.

Jozi Book Fair

Johannesburg will be hosting the 14th annual Jozi Book Fair, this year with the theme “Reimagine and Remake the World.”  With several book launches, conversations with different writers, art and literature exhibitions and much more, you’re sure to enjoy every second of it. The fair aims to create readers and writers in all South Africa’s languages, to promote mother tongue usage and to use all art forms to encourage people of all ages to read the word and to exercise their social agency.
