Luckily for book-lovers and those in the publishing industry, there are still some excellent book fairs to look forward to before we greet 2022 farewell. Read on for all the details on our picks for the top international book fairs taking place during November and December 2022.

Sharjah International Book Fair

This jam-packed event is sure to offer something for everyone. Hosted and organized by the Sharjah Book Authority, it offers various workshops, book signings, children’s exhibitions, a cultural program and even a cookery corner, to name a few. The aim of the fair is to create a reading community and promote the benefits of reading, especially among children, as well as making more books available to all in the pursuit of spreading knowledge.

AIM Literary Festival

Making A full-day event in the heart of London, AIM Literary Festival welcomes storytellers of all ages to network with businesses, authors and people who are an integral part of the publishing industry. Balanced between three sessions, Convergence, Storyvolution and Young Voices, the festival features discussions, debates, power-packed short speeches, book launches, workshops, and networking. Every moment of the festival aims to boost knowledge exchange between storytellers of all cultures and ages.

Vienna International Book Fair

The Vienna International Book Fair is the most important event in the Austrian book industry and takes place annually in November. With its many exhibiting publishers, it is a place of inspiration and exchange: hundreds of events, stage talks, discussions, readings and lectures by German-speaking and international authors on the major issues of the present await visitors. You can expect thousands of new publications and hundreds of top-class events with over 500 national and international authors and experts at the Vienna Book Fair.

Guadalajara International Book Fair

The most outstanding meeting of the Spanish-language publishing world awaits visitors of the Gaudalajara International Book Fair (FIL). Founded in 1987 by the University of Guadalajara, the FIL is the largest market in the world for Spanish language publications. Year after year publishers, literary agents, promoters of reading, translators, distributors and librarians walk down the aisles of FIL carrying out commercial and professional trade. Furthermore, over 700 000 people visit during the nine days of FIL, immersing themselves in books and taking advantage of one of the most important cultural festivals in Latin America.

Istanbul Book Fair

The Istanbul Book Fair offers visitors a platform to discover tens of thousands of books and publications, as well as a chance to meet their favourite local and international authors for a conversation and book signings. The fair will host many events to choose from including talks, panel discussions, poetry recitals and workshops, allowing attendees to keep up with the developments in the publishing industry. Visitors can be exposed to international publications and have the chance to discover foreign literatures, learn more about the guest of honour and other cultures. In the fair’s Secondhand Gallery, collectors have the chance to find old and antique books, records, ephemera and postcards.
