What would you give as your main reason or goal for writing?
The primary goal in crafting this journal was to offer a comprehensive set of tools in a concise format for individuals seeking to cultivate a mindfulness practice. Through daily and weekly prompts, readers are encouraged to engage in reflective and introspective exercises, fostering opportunities for personal growth and transformation. The journal aims to assist individuals in finding balance, reducing stress, and embracing positive changes in their lives.
Who was the book written for?
This book is designed for individuals who value self-improvement, are eager to learn and grow, seek deeper self-awareness, and are ready to put in the effort to become the best version of themselves.
How long did it take for you to finish the final draft of your book?
The book took approximately two years to complete, although there was a period when the project was put on hold. During this time, I enlisted some of my coaching clients to beta-test the journal, which proved to be an invaluable asset in refining and developing the final product.
What makes this book different from others on the shelf?
What makes this book stand out from others on the shelf is its foundation in years of personal growth and transformation, coupled with my experience as a life coach in various settings such as coaching sessions, retreats, and workshops. Additionally, I’ve incorporated insights from Kundalini yoga teacher training, which has proven to be a unique and powerful tool for facilitating transformative experiences.
What was the hardest part of the writing journey for you?
The hardest part of my writing journey was the final stages—editing and preparing the manuscript for publication. Fortunately, I was able to enlist the help of talented professionals to handle these aspects.
Your favourite place to write?
As for my favorite place to write, I find inspiration in nature, on my yoga mat, and in interactions with interesting and authentic individuals. I always carry a notebook with me, ready to write anywhere and everywhere inspiration strikes.
What kept you motivated to write during the times you felt stuck?
What kept me motivated during challenging times in writing was knowing the value the book brings to others, especially after seeing the positive impact during beta-testing. It became a matter of determination and perseverance with the support of others.
Tell us something about yourself that readers would not be able to guess?
Something readers might not guess about me is that I have a background in forestry; I majored in it at university and worked in the field for about 17 years. Even now, I consult in the industry.
Have you written any other books?
While I have several unfinished books on my laptop, I’m always exploring new ideas and projects, so stay tuned for updates.
Assuming you may not write full-time, what is your day job?
As for my day job, I wear many hats—I’m a mother, wife, life coach, yoga teacher, cacao ceremony facilitator, and consultant in the forestry industry in South Africa. Being a mother often feels like juggling multiple roles, from taxi driver to personal assistant to hotel manager!
